Make yer own tomato based pasta sauce.. its not hard!

A tin of tomatoes will cost roughly around 55p but a jar of pasta sauce can be up to 4 times the price! So don’t bother buying all that “special” jars of pasta sauce. All you need is tin of tomato, some crushed garlic, onions, olive oil and some dried herbs.  Saute the garlic and onions, pour in the chopped tomatoes and mix a few pinches of herbs! Done!

You can also experiment with additional ingredients like mushrooms, chillies, peppers, capers, paprika and bacon!

  1. Amen! It’s just so much better to make fresh. The storebought is never fresh tasting and always has a bad consistency. I haven’t eaten it in years, intentionally! But just look at it.

You’re absolutely right! Pre-made pasta sauces most often contains high amount of salt and other flavouring. Even some “natural flavourings” in these sauces are not what would think they are.
Have a look at this article written by ‘Today’ Food editor Phil Lempert which explains more about what “Natural” flavouring actually is. I’ll stick to my home made sauce, thank you.
Thank you so much for your comment.
